What CMEPS Does
Since 1992, volunteers for CMEPS have gathered information on the plight of Canadian Arctic marine mammals from sources such as the Canadian government, independent scientists and international committees that work to protect and/or consume whales, seals and polar bears. CMEPS uses this information to publish attractive reports that are very educational and easy for the general public to study and understand. CMEPS distributes these reports abroad, as well as in Canada as part of our educational programs. For the past 11 years, CMEPS has sent observers to conferences such as the International Whaling Commission (IWC), the Convention on the International Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES), and the UN Environment Programme/Convention on Migratory Species (UNEP/CMS).
